The Auditor General is responsible for auditing and reporting to Parliament on the financial management and efficiency and effectiveness of State government agencies. The Office of the Auditor General welcomes information that may assist us to perform these functions. All information we receive is treated confidentially, subject to legal and Parliamentary processes. In recognition of his independence, the Auditor General may determine, at his discretion, how the Office will respond to or act on any information provided.

Under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003 the Auditor General is the Proper Authority to receive Public Interest Disclosures relating to "a substantial unauthorised or irregular use of, or substantial mismanagement of, public resources".
